Scholarships for Undocumented Students

Colleges/Programs that have scholarships will consider awarding their money to a student who has applied for admission and has been accepted. This money is then put in the student's account to use as needed for school fees.  Click on the link to scholarships when doing your online application and find out what you qualify for. The actual scholarship application may be part of your admissions application, or it may be an additional application. A scholarship application deadline may, in some cases, be before you know you have been accepted.

Merit-based scholarships are awarded for grades, test scores, special skills, activities, community service, physical attributes, talent, essays, and many other academic or personal qualities.  Even though merit-based awards are not based on need, they may require a submitted FAFSA (explained in the next paragraph).

Need-based scholarships are based mostly on your financial needs.  Other factors may be considered such as GPA, volunteering, essays, etc.  These awards will require a submitted FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). This form opens October 1 each year for high school seniors at www.fafsa.gov. Students without a social security number can fill out a WASFA

Finally, many employers provide scholarships for employees children. Ask your parents if their employer or union has these benefits.
