Back to School Announcements: August 4, 2026

Dear Blue Devil Families,

I cannot believe that the 2026-2027 school year is just around the corner! We are excited to welcome students to WaHi as they are the reason we come to work each and every day. Below are some key updates for the 26-27 school year.

Bell Schedule

We will continue to offer our Blue Devil Time Mon, Tues, Thurs, and Fri. This time was implemented so that students can work on homework, receive help from a teacher, make-up tests, etc. Students will remain in their 3rd period class unless they have made an appointment with a teacher. Students will not be able to leave campus during this time unless checked out by a parent/guardian at the main office.

On Monday’s students will remain in their 3rd period class and plan out their Blue Devil Time for the week, or receive advisory lessons.

First Day of School:

The first day of school is Tuesday, August 18th.

Cell Phones:

In an effort to reduce distractions, increase student engagement, and create a more focused learning environment, cell phones are not to be used during class time, unless for medical purposes. From bell to bell — including instruction, work time, transitions, and group activities — phones must be off and put away. We will cover this in more detail with students over the first week.

Administrator Assignments:

Our administrative team will be supporting students and families based on grade levels.

  • 9th Grade: Emily Dana
  • 10th Grade: Claudia Salazar

Students requesting a parking permit must complete the Student Parking Permit Application. Permits may be picked up in the main office starting Monday, Aug. 24th.

Freshman Orientation (Aug. 12):

  • Freshman Orientation will be on Wednesday, August 12th from 9:00a and end at 12:00p. Families should drop off their students in front of the main gym entrance.

  • Mrs. Dana will be conducting a Freshman Family Orientation in the Commons starting at 9:00 on the same day for parents/guardians. This will be a great opportunity to receive key information on how to help your 9th grader be successful.

  • FAQs

    • If my student cannot attend, how will they be ready for school?

      • Freshman will receive their school issued chromebooks in their 3rd period class on August 18th during advisory. Teachers will review key information with students over the course of the first week of school.

    • What will students do during the orientation?

      • Students will play various games in the gym, get to know their classmates, go on a campus tour, etc.

    • Will there be food?

      • Students will be provided a treat at the end of the event before heading home.

    • Will there be transportation?

      • Yes, buses will pick up and drop off students at their local elementary school. More information with specific times to come.

    • Can parents/guardians stay on campus with their students during the orientation?

      • Family members are encouraged to attend the family orientation. They are not permitted to stay with their student as we want students to be making connections with their classmates.

Student Schedules:

Student schedules will be visible in Qmlativ (the new Skyward) starting on Monday, August 10th. Families must complete the Back-to-School Checklist in order for their student’s schedule to become visible.
