Career and Technical Education (CTE) is a department focused on occupational readiness.
- CTE Courses provide career connected training for students (students can explore or prepare for careers and post-secondary career training).
- CTE courses meet the occupational education (credit) requirement, and offer opportunities for students to earn elective credits towards graduation.
- In many cases students can fulfill multiple graduation requirements by taking CTE courses (i.e. math, science, ELA, PE/health, fine art, social studies AND occupational education or electives).
- Students may fulfill a required graduation pathway through CTE Graduation Pathways by completing a sequence of 2.0 credits that provide an opportunity to earn college credit and/or lead to an industry recognized credential (must align to the High School and Beyond Plan).
- Many CTE courses provide an opportunity for students to earn college credit through CTE Dual Credit or Advanced Placement.
- Many CTE courses provide opportunities for students to earn certifications employers are looking for (i.e. Microsoft Office).
CTE programs include Agriculture Education, Business and Marketing Education, Family and Consumer Sciences, Health Sciences, Skilled and Technical Sciences, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math). In addition to the Wa-Hi classes, juniors and seniors have the option of pursuing other CTE courses at SEATech and through Running Start.
SEATech also offers Summer School options to all high school students (including incoming 9th grade students). Career and Technical Education courses at Walla Walla High School can enhance both post high school educational pursuits and life long career objectives.
