Snow, ice and school cancellations didn’t seem to stop the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) from excelling on Feb. 10 in the Tri-Cities at the Winter Conference.
Six Wa-Hi debaters qualified for the state Speech and Debate tournament while at a qualifying competition on Feb. 10 and 11.
On Feb. 1, upwards of 70 students from every corner of Wa-Hi’s campus — LINK Crew, GSA, ASB, Latino Club, and all grade levels — gathered in the library to participate in a presentation by Mark Lee, coordinator for the Benton/Franklin County branch of the Youth Suicide Prevention Program (YSPP), on suicide prevention and awareness among teens.
Junior Macy Quinn-Sears was accepted into Stanford’s prestigious student journalism program for the second year in a row, this time as a counselor in training.
The theme for for the 2017 Sadie Hawkins dance will be "Sadies: Out Of This World."
Two Microsoft Office Applications students won their respective categories in the state competition and fall qualifier for the National Championship.
The debate team tied for first in the Large School Debate category with Chiawana High School on Nov. 19.
Three band students and six choir students were selected for the 2017 All-Northwest Honor groups and will perform at the convention in February.
The 2016 fall play, The Great Gatsby, will open on Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.
