Students to lead suicide awareness discussion

This Wednesday, Feb 21, student leaders from the Blue Devil Strong peer support group will be leading a discussion about suicide in teen media, and what can be learned from it.
The aim of this event is to raise parental and community awareness about suicide, and the stigmas that have been created and perpetuated by popular culture. Students are hoping that increasing awareness of teen mental health will help parents, staff and peers to be better equipped to help each other when they're struggling.
Anyone in the community is welcome to attend this event, Wednesday, Feb 21 at 6 p.m. in the Wa-Hi Library, although parents are discouraged from bringing young children as this is a potentially triggering subject.
