Music students compete at jazz festival and Solo and Ensemble

The Wa-Hi Jazz Band traveled to Moscow, Idaho on Feb. 25 to perform at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival.

Freshman Nate Miller won the trumpet soloist category and qualified to perform that evening with the other soloists winners.

Additionally, choir students traveled to the vocal Solo and Ensemble competition on Feb. 25.

Junior Trevor Kytola won the tenor category.

Junior Cassie Dixon won the soprano category.

Seniors Kaysie Clayton and Katy Payne were first and second alternates, respectively, in the alto category.

Sophomores Amanda Loney and Caroline Blethen were the second alternate in the small women’s ensemble category.

Seniors Katy Payne and Carson Schmidt were the first alternate in the small mixed ensemble category.

The Belles Voix choir was the second alternate in the large women’s ensemble category. It consists of fifteen students:
