The Dave Meyer Award

Dave MeyerThis award has been created to recognize one senior football player with a $150 scholarship toward the cost of team camp in the spring. The selected players will be those who best embody the spirit and legacy left by Dave Meyer in his career as a Blue Devil football player, as a Wa-Hi teacher and coach, and as a warrior in his 8 year battle with brain cancer. The honor will be given to the athletes who best display the following qualities:

1) Has a positive, upbeat attitude, always "can do!" with a smile.
2) Is a team player, valuing working together, encouraging others, and remembering: "It's about the man next to you!"
3) Displays enthusiastic Blue Devil spirit and fierce love for the team and school.
4) Shows courage in the face of adversity and perseverance in overcoming obstacles.

The Holman Award

This award is in memory of Kirk Holman, a former Blue Devil (1993-94).  A full team camp scholarship given to an upcoming senior.  This award is judged on the following criteria:

1) work ethic towards football, 
2) team leadership, 
3) team spirit and loyalty, 
4) desire and determination to win, and 
5) enthusiasm for playing the game. 

To be eligible the upcoming senior must be in good academic standing and demonstrate good citizenship.
