Wa-Hi musicians performed at the regional Solo & Ensemble Contest on Feb. 20.

The following students won awards at the contest. Winners will compete at the state level:

Senior Emma Burges - Winner in clarinet category
Sophomore Amy Ueckert - 2nd Alternate in clarinet category
Freshman Connor Stone - 2nd Alternate in alto saxophone category
Freshman Anna Burgess - Winner in violin category
Junior Morgan Lenihan - Winner in cello category
Freshman Quinn Anderson - 2nd Alternate in cello category

The following group will compete at the state level:

Walla Walla String Quintet (seniors Aislynn Beckstrand and Jonathan Barnes, juniors Olivia Welker and Lenihan and sophomore Vance Jones) - Winner in strings large group category

"I'm excited. I wanted to make it to state and I'm happy. I think it will be fun," Jones said.
